[India Mobile Congress 2022 ] Smart City Living Labs - IIIT Hyderabad

Namaste and welcome to IIIT Hyderabad.
This is the living lab, that we are seeing over here.
I’m Thomas David Tency.
We have Ajay Mathew, and we have Vaibhav Naware

So, we are interns at IIIT Hyderabad.
And we are helping in making a living lab possible.

So, you must have seen the concept of labs inside of colleges, right.
But IIIT Hyderabad is a college in which the entire college is a lab in itself.

That is, we collect data from all sources, taking from streetlights, air quality,

then we have the electricity that is consumed and at the same time, the water level, the water flow.
Perhaps all data that we could probably capture, is what we are trying to capture over here.

We are also targeting.
This is an entire system, in which startups from around the country can come in and exhibit their product over here,

because we have that sort of facility.

And from there we can actually calibrate their data.
Because we have a Remen sum data over here.
So, I’ll make you go through the product we have.

This is the vision technology that we are having over here.
In which we are able to demonstrate, control and exhibit the features of streetlights.

That is, we are able to capture the street light data.

i.e., how much time it is on, and probably save a lot of electricity with this.
We also have an air quality monitor station,

which will capture the air quality present inside the facility, and be able to use for special analysis.

We also have this energy meter.
That you must be having in your home

and at the same time one person has to come there, every point of time to take it.
But we are making it all automated by having a Lourival technology over here,

i.e., this machine will be able to send the data directly to that board, in which the electricity bill is calculated.

We have also developed water flow meter over here,
which is a non-invasive technology.

So right now, in the market you must be having these stupid analog meters which will be able to calculate the flow, right.

That is not smart enough, one person has to go there every time,
to see the data and write it into the register, then push the data like to the server by computer, that’s a really stupid method.

Why not implement it and like to modify it with a much smarter approach?

So, we thought of getting a non-invasive technology that we developed on our own to create a retrofit model
and keep on top of existing analog water meters, this way we are able to capture.

It will take an image, process the image on board and then push the data to the server.

So this is non-invasive technology, we don’t have to replace any meter.
All we have to do is keep the retrofit on the top of the existing ones.

And then we also have a water quantity meter,
i.e., the water level, this will be placed on top of the tank.

So, this will actually calculate the amount of water that is being pushed through the tank and now all this data that is being collected is being pushed to a server that is 1m-2m.

Now in India we are the only ones who are having a living lab.
And we and France are collaborating together to have that 1m-2m concept of pushing data onto the internet and be available for people who actually need it to calibrate it,

and provide a more extensive testing platform that we are providing.
