[bauma 2022] PSIORI - Autonomous woodyard crane

Hello welcome, my name is Paul Bockelmann and I’m I’m an engineer at PSIORI.
We’re an AI company and we present here at bauma, Baumachine exhibition.

Our Wood Yard Crane that’s one of the biggest projects that we have currently.

It’s a Woodyard crane for an autonomous Woodyard crane for paper mills.

But we are also active in all kinds of areas where AI might be applied, in medicine, in quality checks and many other applications.  

As I said, the biggest one is… right now, the closest one to product is the Woodyard Crane.  

if I can show you two of the aspects that we work on right now.
One of these is remote control.

And the other one is AI controlled crane.
Also remotely, you can see here in the background, our demonstration hall in Freiburg that’s 300 kilometers west of here.

And we will control the screen with the joysticks manually and also control it with AI or let the AI Control it.

As you can see, the streams are relatively low latency, it’s a sub 130 mill seconds between 70 and 130.

so that’s totally enough to control the the crane in real time.

That was a particularly beautiful grasp.

But now let us try to activate the AI that can do the same things.

We don’t have to steer it manually.
but we also initialize the the command from remote.

So, basically we automate it using AI the entire process of the… all the functions that the Woodyard Crane needs to be be performing  

including the grasping from a pile and delivering somewhere else.

So everything is fully automized,
using computer vision, also LIDAR technology and you know her heuristics.

So, as you can see, the load is now lifted up totally autonomously controlled.

I didn’t touch anything except from pushing the button.
I push it again then it’s doing the same thing in reverse,

so all the functions that we need to be performing in a Woodyard Crane for paper mills is already automated by the AI system that we developed.

Now it’s opening up again after that hoisting up and then it concludes this function of the of the crane.
